First Aid CPR/AED Training

This course is recognized by WorkplaceBC as equivalent to the Occupational Level 1 course. Participants must complete the online portion of the class in order to attend the practical in class session. The self paced on line modules take approximately 6 - 8 hours. The practical class session takes 7.5 hours.

For certification, participants must attend and participate 100% of the course.

Achieve 75% on the written knowledge evaluation.

Successfully demonstrate skill's and critical steps.

The Standard First Aid CPR C/AED certification is valid for 3 years.

Participants must have a current unexpired Standard First Aid Certificate to qualify for the recertification.

Learn life saving skills for the home and workplace. Participants must complete the 4 hour self paced on line portion before attending the  4 hour hands on class session.  WorkplaceBC recognizes Emergency First Aid as equivalent to Occupational First Aid Level 1.

To pass the course; 

Participants must successfully demonstrate skills and critical steps.

Attend and participate 100% of the course.

Achieve 75% on the written knowledge evaluation.

Certification for Emergency First Aid CPR C/AED is valid for 3 years.

Participants must have a current unexpired Emergency First Aid certificate and complete the 4 hour on line component, before attending the 4 hour practical in class session.

CPR C/AED Blended course includes a 3 hour on line module that must be completed before the 3 hours hands on class portion.  

Certificates are valid for 3 years.

CPR C/AED Recertification Blended learning includes a 2 hour on line portion and a 2.5 hour hands on class session. 

Participants must have a current unexpired CPR C/AED certification and complete the on line component before the practical session.

Certificates are valid for 3 years.

Learn how to perform CPR on infants and children, including the use of AED and how to respond to choking emergencies and first aid for everything from bruises to breaks, cuts and scrapes.

Participants must attend and participate in 100% of the course.

Before your hands on learning experience in class, you will need to complete the on line portion for the course. The on line modules take approximately 8 hours to complete. Your in class session will be 7.5 hours. Learn how to respond to first aid emergencies in a Marine environment.  We will cover breathing & circulation emergencies, wound care, sudden medical emergencies, head & spinal injuries, muscle, joint & bone injuries, environmental illnesses, poisons.

Participants must attend 100% of the course, demonstrate competency in required skills and achieve 75% on the written test.

Certification is valid for 3 years.

Please note that for all of the blended courses, participants must complete the on line portion of the course prior to attending the in person session. On line modules are self paced.

This course is designed for professionals working in care facilities including nurses, care aides, medical and dental professionals. As well as pre-hospital responders from the fire department, ski patrol, lifeguards, search and rescue, and sports medicine.

The focus is on high performance CPR, rapid assessment and use of an Automated External Defibrillator. Learning to work as a high performance team is an important component of this course. We will also cover airway obstructions and assisted ventilations.

To receive the one year certification, participants must attend 100% of the course, perform excellent skills competency, and achieve 75% on the written knowledge evaluation. 

Airway Management may be added onto Basic Life Support or taken as a separate course. The Airway Management certification is valid for 3 years, however Basic Life Support must be renewed yearly.

Airway Management covers;

• Opening the mouth
• Cross finger technique
• Tongue-jaw lift
• Airway adjuncts – insertion and removal
• Oropharyngeal (OPA) airways
• Nasopharyngeal (NPA) airways
• Supraglottic airways (Awareness only)
• Suction

A current unexpired BLS certificate is required to take this course.
